The Village of Saltaire once again has Mosquito Dunks (EPA Registration #6218-47) available for distribution to residents, free of charge. Please stop up to the Village Office to receive you allotment. Mosquito Dunks attack mosquitoes at the larval stage and thereby prevent emergence into adult mosquitoes. Control of mosquito larvae is by the far the most effective method of mosquito control. One Mosquito Dunk can prevent the emergence of thousands of mosquitoes. Please use Mosquito Dunks in conformance with label instructions.

The use of Mosquito Dunks is not the only way to control mosquitoes around your home. Mosquitoes breed in standing water. Do not allow water to accumulate in garbage cans, bird baths, gutters, flower pots, or in any other containerized area. Mosquitoes can also breed in your septic tank. It is important that all cracks and other openings are sealed tight to prevent mosquitoes from entering and breeding. Treatment of your septic tank with a larvaecide as a precaution has also proven to be an effective method of mosquito control. We urge your cooperation and active participation in this important public health initiative.
